The Little Station That Could!!!
A good news story, thanks to Left After Breakfast.
Prior to the ABC 4 Corners Program disclosing the exploitation of workers in 7/11 Stores, the workers radio station 3CR embarked on their own investigation of young exploited workers employed by the franchise Crust Pizza Company and we had a win! Since probing into the company's industrial practices, Sydney Rd Brunswick store has now agreed to repay all past and present employees any money owing,including penalty rates, back wages owing for years, paid training shifts and the award rate to apply. The Managing Director of the chain has instigated an investigation of every franchisee throughout Australia and given assurances that they don't endorse the policies of exploiting young people.

3CR has decided to close its doors to volunteers and guests from Monday 23 March as we try to do our part to minimise the spread of the coronavirus throughout the community. At the front of our minds, is protecting the most marginalised and vulnerable. But we are still here. And we’ll continue broadcasting, 24 hours a day, with radical, alternative content throughout this period – but things will sound a bit different. Some programmers will present their shows on the phone, and we’ll be finding creative ways to bring you our regular programming. So stay tuned, stay safe, and be kind to each other.
Diaspora Blues is a new show that provides a platform for people interested in ideas about home, community, and belonging. Hosted by Bigoa and Baasto and produced by Ayan Shirwa. Tune in for the first show, Monday 2 March at 2.30pm, featuring Ruth Nyaruot Ruach speaking about her platform ‘Next in Colour’ and the work they’re doing to create opportunities for artists from the African diaspora. We'll also discuss the challenges of being a third culture kid.
