Rest is SURVIVAL: Disabling Employment Services and Beyond

Saturday, 3 December 2022 - 8:00am to 8:30am
Disabling Employment Services and Beyond

This episode from the 2022 Disability Day Broadcast is presented is by Iris Lee (Women on the Line & Queering the Air).

Around 300,000 disabled people have to navigate the Disability Employment Services (DES) stream of the paltry Jobseeker payment.

DES is controversial as the state spends $1.3 billion creating a profitable private market for providers who compete for disabled clients, with very poor job outcomes and negative experiences for many disabled people. We hear from Catherine Caine and Jael about their experiences, and look beyond the current DES to what we actually need.
