Nakba Day, commemorated each year on 15 May, marks the destruction of the Palestinian homeland – historic Palestine – and the the ethnic cleansing and expulsion of most of the Indigenous people of Palestine in 1948. As we approach the 77th anniversary of the Nakba, action is needed now more than ever. 3CR programs will be covering this significant day ahead of the Nakba Day Rally on Sunday 18 May that will start at the State Library at midday and march 6km to St.Kilda.

12-1pm From the River to the Radio: Nakba Day
This Nakba Day special will replay some of the poignant interviews and speeches over the past year (since Nakba Day 2024) from Palestinians resisting ongoing genocide and colonial violence. And revisit Nakba Day in Naarm last year when the Elbit community petition, which collected over 2000 signatures, sparked a parliamentary debate with Victoria's Labor Government on their partnership with Elbit Systems of Australia. 3-3.30pm Australia Stop Arming Israel
Featuring Hashmat Moslih, political analyst and former journalist, speaking from the gates of Heat Treatment Australia (HTA) in Campbellfield on 16 February 2024. HTA undertake the heat treatment for components for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter that are being used by the IDF to drop bombs on Gaza. Over 8 months, community members organised a sustained campaign that exposed HTA’s role in weapons manufacturing and successfully shut down work on an almost weekly basis. The campaign was one of many that highlights the complicity of innocuous Australian companies in the weapons supply chain that is murdering Palestinians. LISTEN.
