About Teachers in Colour

Teachers in Colour explores racism, identity and education through the eyes of racialised migrant teachers working in the Australian school system. Co-hosted by education researchers and teacher-educators Nisha Thapliyal and Aaron Teo, and community broadcaster Priya Kunjan, Teachers in Colour shares vital insights into how current and former teachers from underrepresented cultural backgrounds experience racialisation, diversity and multiculturalism in our increasingly diverse schools.

Across the series, teachers talk about their lived experiences from initial teacher education to classroom, staffroom and leadership roles. Join us for candid conversations about identity, cultural heritage and cultural knowledge, stereotyping, misrepresentation and discrimination, anti-racist curriculum and pedagogy, and the labour of building anti-racist school cultures grounded in solidarity.

Teachers in Colour broadcasts weekly on Monday at 10:30AM on 3CR855AM, starting on Monday the 7th of September. Tune in live or listen back to the podcast at 3cr.org.au/teachersincolour.

Teachers in Colour is produced in partnership with 3CR Community Radio, with financial support from the University of Newcastle and the Community Broadcasting Foundation. Our theme tune and other tracks used in the show are by Purple Planet Music.
