Nelson Mandela on 3CR in 1990

On October 25 1990 3CR broadcast live from the Melbourne Town Hall, where Nelson Mandela had come to address the Victorian trade union movement. He’d come to thank them for their solidarity work and for their support in bringing down the apartheid system in South Africa. 3CR programmers Deb Welch and the late Lisa Bellear hosted the broadcast, assisted by technician Greg Segal. We’re pleased to bring you the archived recording of the event in full. It features Alf Bamblett, Martin Ferguson, Bill Kelty, Tracey Onus, John Halfpenny and others … and of course the late Nelson Mandela.
