Thursday 3 June 2021

7:15 - Anna Carlson from 4ZZZ radio reversal interviews Jamal Nabulsi, a diaspora Palestinian writer and researcher, living on the unceded sovereign lands of the Jagera and Turrbal peoples. His research explores the intersections between emotion and resistance, through analysing Palestinian practices of graffiti and hip-hop music. In this interview, which also includes part of Low Key's track "Free Palestine", we talk about some of the Palestinian justice organising that has happened as part of the Disrupt Land Forces Expo.

7:30 - We hear a speech by Tabitha Lean as part of the program 'Infrastructural Inequalities: Resistant Media and Abolitionist Futures' broadcast online on 14th May. Infrastructural Inequalities is a journal and public program that investigates how infrastructural systems distribute resources, capacities, and harms in differentiated and unjust ways. Tabitha Lean is a Gunditjmara woman, activist, storyteller and lived experience abolitionist. Tabitha speaks about why she is an abolitionist and how abolition is a framework for organising, a longterm goal and way of living.

7:45 - We hear audio from Disrupt Landforces. The audio features,  part of a speech by Oula, a Syrian refugee who is an organiser with the Socialist Alternative and the current Environment Officer at the UQ union as well as an interview with Andy Paine, Sam Watson Junior (Wangeriburrah and Birrigybba) and George from the Free West Papua campaign.

8:00 - Nerita Waight, CEO of the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, spoke with Priya earlier this week about the urgent need for changes to bail laws in Victoria and their impact on Aboriginal people, as well as the Victorian government's failure to provide adequate funding for Aboriginal Legal services in the 2021 state budget.
