"But where are you really from?"

Monday, 14 September 2026 - 10:30am to 11:00am

All of our interviews with current and former racialised migrant teachers began with a question about how they relate to their diverse heritages, and how this has shaped their sense of self. In this episode, you’ll hear from six teachers who grew up in Australia - Flora, Charlie*, Harry, Elizabeth*, Thuy*, and Priyanka - talking about who they are and how they have been perceived and treated by others within a culture that very much retains Anglo-centric whiteness as the unspoken norm. Across the series, you’ll hear about how these foundational experiences have influenced teachers’ approaches to challenging racialisation in Australian schools.
