Last week Declassified Australia and Michael West Media both published an article written by Tom Orsag entitled '‘BLUE-WASHING’: CORPORATE PROFITS AND THE DESTRUCTION OF GAZA'. It explains the growing corporate investment into F35 parts manufacturers across the continent and how the Federal government props it up. We were joined by the article's author Tom Orsag, a retired member of the cfmeu and the article's author. Read the full article here
We play an excerpt of Amy Aednit Ciara's interview with a group of LGBTQI+ refugees in a camp in Kenya. In this recording Amy speaks to Rasheed (he/him), Sammy (he/him), Brenda (she/her) and Rachael (she/her). These are cis gay and lesbian refugees from Uganda trying to build a self sustaining encampment that will hopefully have greater longevity than block 13, a previous encampment which was attacked and disbanded. LGBT+ refugees in Kakuma experience discrimination and violence from other refugees, Kenyan authorities and UNHCR employees. This was before block 13 was disbanded and before US AID pulled out. A content warning that in this segment we hear accounts of sexual assault and unwanted pregnancies. Please share their website www.queerpride.africa Funds will go to food and creating self sustaining projects like raising chooks to sell eggs for further projects.
The show ends with a conversation with community organiser Jiggy about protesting logging and mining on Gumbaynggirr Country in so-called Coffs Harbor. Support the organisations mentioned - @savepinecreekforest, @bellingenactivistnetwork & Friends of Pine Creek & Lock the Gate Nambucca.
