Community announcements: Sri Lanka’s tea industry – the second-biggest source of tea imports to Australia – is at a turning point. Plantation workers, who already work to unfair quotas in unsafe conditions, have been facing a shift from permanent, full-time employment to casualisation – losing
income, benefits, leave, job security and the right to unionise. On Saturday 19 July at Balam Balam Place, join Ceylon Workers’ Red Flag Union activist Menaha Kandasamy to learn about their struggle for a fairer life, and find out how you can support them. Balam Balam Place is wheelchair accessible, masks are encouraged. Read more about the event
