We play an excerpt of Amy Aednit Ciara's interview with a group of LGBTQI+ refugees in a camp in Kenya. In this recording Amy speaks to Rasheed (he/him), Sammy (he/him), Brenda (she/her) and Rachael (she/her). These are cis gay and lesbian refugees from Uganda trying to build a self sustaining encampment that will hopefully have greater longevity than block 13, a previous encampment which was attacked and disbanded. LGBT+ refugees in Kakuma experience discrimination and violence from other refugees, Kenyan authorities and UNHCR employees. This was before block 13 was disbanded and before US AID pulled out.
