Monday 26 January marked Invasion Day and 3CR's Independent Blak Media team brought the annual Invasion Day broadcast to the airwaves from 10am. 

They were joined on the day by some of the regular Monday shows bringing dedicated Invasion Day programming.

7am Monday Breakfast
Join guest host Marisa (Doin' Time), for this special Invasion Day edition of the 3CR Monday Breakfast show. 8.30am  Women on the Line  Stop the policing of First Nations and other marginalised communities
This episode of Women on the Line focuses on the ineffective use of the police’s arbitrary stop and search powers and its detrimental impacts on First Nations and other already marginalised communities.  LISTEN

10am Invasion Day Special Broadcast

Keiran Stewart-Assheton (yillamin) opened with music and discussion and was joined by Kelly Flannagan (Beyond the Bars) for a chat before she headed in to the rally to bring us conversations with people attending the march later in the day.  LISTEN

From 11am we broadcast speeches from the Invasion Day Rally Melbourne 2026 on the steps of Parliament House.  Starting with welcome to Country from Thane Garvey and followed by: Meriki Onus - Warriors of the Aboriginal Resistance; Millie reading statement from Bunurong and Gunditjmara man, Uncle Mark Brown; Celeste Liddle, Arrernte, reading statement from WAR; Uncle/Prof Gary Foley, Gumbaynggir; Uncle Robbie Thorpe (Bunjileenee), Krautungalung of the Gunnai/Gunditjmara; Aunty Vicky Roach; Travis Lovett, Kerrupmara Gunditjmara, Former Commissioner Yoorrook Justice Commissioner;  Djaran Murray Jackson, Dja Dja Wurrung, Wamba Wamba, Dhudhuroa, Waywurru, Barapa Barapa, Wergaia, Wiradjuri, First Peoples Assembly Vic; Uncle Gary Murray; Kathleen Terrick, Wurundjeri; Tarneen Onus Brown Yorta Yorta, Bindal and Meriam Community organiser;  Apryl Day, Yorta Yorta, Wemba Wemba and Barapa Barapa, Founder of the Dhadjowa Foundation.  LISTEN

As the march headed down Bourke Street and through the city Kelly brought us roving interviews.  LISTEN

Throughout the afternoon Keiran connected with Aboriginal activists from across the continent at the forefront of campaigns for land back, restoration, restitution, and real treaties. 

He was joined in the studio by Jasper Cohen-Hunter and they caught up with Leah House reporting on the Invasion Day events on Ngunnawal land, so called "Canberra"; Boe Spearim calling in from Moree;  Dom from Kaurna Yarta;  as well as more voices from the streets of Naarm-Melbourne brought to us by Kelly.  LISTEN
