It’s a no-brainer that keeping Melbourne's diverse community radio stations on air is vital for the soul of our city, but them bills, they gotta get paid. To help out, a posse of much-loved community radio presenters are putting on a big, bold night to raise funds for 3CR at the Bella Union on Thursday 27 April. Kick off is at 7pm and the evening includes Kate n Suzy from Lazy Wednesday spinning tracks, comedy with Fiona Scott-Norman, the official launch of the second edition of Ian McFarlane's The Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop, and a live Superfluity show. Come see and hear the voices of the Pacific and help bring awareness to the plight of the Pacific nation of West Papua. Support Voice of West Papua and celebrate our local Pacific groups such as the Black Sistaz from West Papua, Charles Maimarosia from the Solomon Islands, Ella from PNG, Ihaka from Aotearoa, Sam Brown & Co. representing various Pacific Islands, Niuean Dance Group and much more.

3CR has partnered with the Australian Muslim Women's Centre for Human Rights to deliver an exciting training program financially supported by the Inner North Community Foundation. In 2017 for IWD we bring you 24 hours of radio featuring the talent of women broadcasters that make up 3CR including transwomen, indigenous women, women of colour, queer women and women from different ages and abilities. This year we are celebrating with a special LIVE Wednesday Breakfast Show. This Thursday 17 November, 6-6.30pm, 3CR's newest program Communication Mixdown casts a critical eye on the myriad ways in which we communicate with each other in our increasingly interconnected, multi-media platform world. Each week Jennifer Martin and John Langer will mix down the who, the what, the where, and the how of particular communication events, messages, trends and technologies, and then consider: what impacts and what consequences?

THIS Sunday 9 October from 12-4pm the station opens up its doors to the community and invites you to come in and celebrate 40 years of radical radio. Join us for an awesome afternoon tea, roving musicians, special on-air broadcasts and the opportunity to step into the studio and get behind the mic. Face painting for the kids, stalls, rolling station tours and the launch of the 3CR 40th birthday t-shirt. There'll be something for everyone! Getting to the station is easy, but parking around 21 Smith Street, Fitzroy, is very difficult and we strongly recommend that you walk, cycle or catch public transport to the day. See you there!

We have a position available as the Station Manager at 3CR. The Station Manager is responsible for the overall day to day management of the station, including the coordination of staff and ensuring access and equity for 3CR’s volunteer workers and affiliates. The Station Manager also acts as the Executive Officer to the 3CR Committee of Management and to Community Radio Federation. This is a permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week, nine day fortnight with an RDO). Applications close 9am Monday 5 September.
