Trump and the dangerous imaginings and influence of the evangelical New Apostolic Reformation

Friday, 17 July 2026 - 10:00am to 10:30am

The presenters discuss the dramatic breakdown of the division of church and state in the US, especially under the influence of the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) from the 1980s. The NAR is a key part of President Trump's support base, and he isn't too shy to bring it right into the Whitehouse and the Government's policies, actions, and public performances.

The NAR is reportedly the fastest growing Christian extremist movement world wide. Its followers believe that demons have literally taken over government and civil institutions like courts and schools, and violence is promoted and even glorified as a way to get rid of them.

The NAR's belief system has been described as a variant of fascism, with a focus on authoritarianism, and christian purity as a prerequisite to establish god's kingdom on earth, following an apocolyptic war between good and evil.

Think Again offers weekly conversations and reflections about current events, trends and public pronouncements on contemporary and emerging issues.
