Today we continue reporting on the 'Close Pine Gap - Sacred Land Back Convergence', held on Arrernte Country in Alice Springs from 17-20 July. Kuyunba is the Arrernte name for the sacred ancestral land occupied by the joint Australian-US military intelligence facility of Pine Gap near Alice Springs. The Hayes family are the custodians for the site that was taken without consent 60 years ago.  Following a weekend of talks and workshops the gathering culminated in the 600 strong convergence supporting the Hayes family to hand over a letter demanding the closure of Pine Gap, land back and compensation for 60 years of loss of access and damages to their sacred site, culture and community.
