The Wellington Community Centre, Collingwood with Chris Sprake

Sunday, 24 December 2023 - 10:00am to 10:30am
Meeting the community's need for food

In this episode, I chat with Chris Sprake. Chris is the manager of the community organization, The Wellington, based in Collingwood, directly opposite one of the largest public housing estates in the city. Since its inception in 2004, The Wellington has run as a charity supplying fresh produce to people in need as well as free medical clinics and community development programs.

Because of the high cost of living, there has been a dramatic increase in community need for food in particular, and the future of The Wellington in 2024 is precarious because of the lack of ongoing funding.
