Acting Up! - 45 Years of FoE - The Early Years

Tuesday, 10 December 2019 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm
Friends of the Earth members in the 70's

Celebrating 45 years of Friends of the Earth. Going Back to Where it All Began - The Early Days of FoE. Friends of the Earth Australia was founded in 1974 around issues including anti-uranium, whaling and lead in petrol - issues that might make people shake their heads now to believe that happened! We are joined by guests who were involved from the early days of the organisation and look at the first national meeting at French Island, the Ride Against Uranium, our very first petition and database and some of the great actions run in the 1970s! Presenters: Megan Williams and Em Gayfer. Guests: Richard Nankin, Neil Barrett, Pat Jessen, and Bro Sheffield-Brotherton.

Friday 9:00am to 10:00am
Ratbags, Peaceniks and Agents of Change. Resistance radio that explores the movements that made us, drawing from the activist archives through to voices of resistance today. We take you under the hood to see how collectives and campaigns are formed, mobilise people, work cooperatively to transform systems of oppression and are sustained over time.
