For this week’s episode, we hear from Yassmin Abdel-Magied on the war in Sudan and later in the show, we hear from Francesca Albanese on the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

Yassmin Abdel-Magied is a Sudanese-born author, broadcaster and award-winning social advocate. She runs the website eyesonsudan.net, amplifying the voices of resistance movements on the ground in Sudan. In this conversation, Yassmin provides context to this latest conflict in Sudan and explains the role of neo-imperialism in this war. This interview originally aired on Tuesday Breakfast on the 14th and 21st of November 2023.

Francesca Albanese is a highly respected human rights lawyer, researcher and author. She has worked for over twenty years as a human rights expert for the United Nations, including the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees. In 2022, the United Nations Human Rights Council appointed Francesca Albanese as Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967. This speech was recorded at the Blak Solidarity gathering for Palestine held at Dardi Munwurro in Naarm/Melbourne on November 18th 2023.
