- Salvation Army accuse Melbourne City Mayor, Nick Reece, of failing to honour election promises of $6 million for their homeless services and $3.2 million for Melbourne City Mission. The Age reports Reece as saying: "We are in on-going dialogue with the Salvation Army to ensure that the service they provide is done in a way which doesn't present any additional risks to People who run businesses or live at or visit that end of the city."
- Allied Health Workers strike for the third time on 11th Aug for pay, career progression, work loads and staff retention.
- Public doctors, members of ASMOF, rescheduled a 3.5 hour stoppage to next week after the Vic Government successfully queried their paperwork. Pay and workloads are at issue after 10 months of negotiations - Union demands include maximum shift lengths of 12.5 hours and two consecutive days off per fortnight to fix unsafe hours!
