It’s a pleasure to catch up with Loretta Miller — a truly talented and versatile singer whose musical roots run deep. Growing up surrounded by the sounds of her alt-country singer mother, Tracy Miller, and aunt Lisa Miller, it was almost inevitable that Loretta would follow a musical path. Blessed with a remarkable voice, she was soon in demand, performing with a wide range of bands across genres.
Loretta’s first paid gigs were with the legendary Peter and Andy Baylor, where she explored rockabilly, country, blues, western swing, jazz, and soul. She then took the world stage with the internationally acclaimed retro-soul outfit Clairy Browne and The Bangin’ Rackettes, touring extensively and honing her dynamic stage presence.
After that chapter closed, Loretta became the incendiary frontwoman of the brilliant Jazzparty, showcasing her powerhouse vocals and flair for genre-bending performance. Her enduring love of country music has now come full circle with the release of Loretta Miller, a nine-track album of original songs that blend pure country, Americana, ’70s-tinged soul, and country rock.
She’s joined by a stellar band — Joel Loukas, Freyja Hooper, Louis King, and Shane Reilly — creating a sound that’s rich, warm, and unmistakably Loretta. Having absorbed great music from birth, Loretta Miller now brings together her influences, voice, and songwriting into a cohesive and compelling musical statement.
