Emma Swift is an Australian-born singer-songwriter currently splitting her time between Nashville, TN, and London, UK. Drawing inspiration from legends like Joni Mitchell, Marianne Faithfull, Linda Ronstadt, and Sandy Denny, Emma’s music blends elements of classic folk, Americana, and indie rock. While she writes her own songs, she has gained widespread recognition for her unique interpretations of other artists' works.
In August 2020, she released Blonde On The Tracks, a critically acclaimed album that reimagines some of her favorite Bob Dylan songs. The record, released on Tiny Ghost Records, earned “Best of 2020” accolades from Rolling Stone, The Guardian, No Depression, Nashville Scene, and others. It charted in the Australian Top 10 and also made waves on the UK, US, and European Americana charts.
Emma’s rendition of Dylan’s “Queen Jane Approximately” was named #18 in Rolling Stone’s 80 Best Dylan Covers of All Time in 2021, further cementing her reputation as a gifted interpreter of classic songs.
Beyond music, Emma has a passion for surrealist art, collage animation, and travel. She cites visual artists Dora Maar and Dorothea Tanning, as well as poets Mary Oliver and Louis MacNeice, as major influences. She is married to British alternative songwriter Robyn Hitchcock, and the two often perform together. As a duo, they have released two 7-inch singles, “Love Is A Drag” and “Follow Your Money.”
Having toured extensively across the globe, Emma looks forward to hitting the road again when the opportunity arises.
