Good Vibrations Film Screening - June 12

Film Fundraiser

Planet X & Music Matters present Good Vibrations at the Nova Cinema, Lygon St Carlton on Thursday 12 June at 7pm. Tickets are $20 this also gets you entry into the raffle to be drawn on the night with big prizes listed below. Good Vibrations is an entirely lovable movie about Terri Hooley, Belfast's chaotic godfather of punk. In the 70s, Hooley defied the miseries and ugly tribalism of the Troubles by opening a record shop in the middle of the city, quixotically called Good Vibrations. This tiny store became his tour promotion HQ, as well as the indie record label that put out the Undertones' Teenage Kicks. It was also the base from which Hooley could cultivate his entrepreneurial genius and messianically insist on a new and non-divisive way of thinking about Northern Ireland and its young people. Featuring in the soundtrack is exciting music of the time from the Undertones, Saints, Stiff Little Fingers, Niney The Observer and Suicide sitting well with the earlier influences of psychedelia from Ramases & Seleka and the rocksteady sound of the Upsetters. To purchase your ticket call 3CR during business hours on 9419 8377.
