Keep Our Doors Open! Neighbourhood Houses Victoria | 2026 Plans!

Friday, 6 February 2026 - 9:00am to Friday, 13 February 2026 - 10:00am
I mage of the post card mentioned in the interview. It features the words 'Keep Our Doors Open, Strong Communities Start Here." Includes image of a diverse looking community entering a neighbourhood house.

Welcome back to Kill Your Lawn and Kick Your Fence for 2026!

In this episode meet Keir Paterson, CEO of Neighbourhood Houses Victoria, to discuss the invaluable benefit of neighbourhood houses to our communities and their current campaign to raise important funds to keep them operational.

There are three demands NHVIC are making:

  • Increase funding for Neighbourhood Houses by 25%.
  • Support 25 Neighbourhood Houses who do not currently receive any ongoing funding.
  • Develop a fund for the establishment of 5 additional Neighbourhood Houses in Victoria's growth areas annually.

Support the cause:

18th of February 12:30 pm Victorian Parliment House Steps.

The Image reads Kill Your Lawn and Kick Your Fence. The letters are cut out from from magazines. There are more magazine cut outs of Kookaburra's and an Owl with flowers groing out of their heads in a psychadelic fashion. The background is cardboard spray painted with orange and green. There are cut outs of bush fires and an 'idealic' suburban lawn.
Friday 9:00am to 10:00am
Why are we so behind on greening our cities and suburbs? What happened to communities, where truly no one is left behind? Where is justice for communities that have been abandoned? Kill Your Lawn and Kick Your Fence, talks to and with communities, about how we can learn to share and care for each other and our beloved planet.
