Link McLennan is on This One's Introduced By... with Dr Gonzo on 3CR

Link McLennan has dedicated over three decades to writing and performing in a diverse range of bands, each embracing different musical genres, from punk rock and psychedelic pop to eclectic garage and heavy 60s/70s-inspired rock. His impressive career includes stints with bands like The Meanies, The Tomorrow People, The Bakelite Age, and Sun God Replica, each offering its own unique take on the music landscape.
Now, with Bagful of Beez, McLennan has embarked on another creative adventure, blending 60s and 70s funk, soul, and rock into an exciting and fresh project. The band has already released several singles and an album titled Do Androids Dream Of Electric Beatles on Cheersquad Records and Tapes. The album presents a brilliant and eclectic fusion of classic pop styles, showcasing McLennan's trademark versatility. Its adventurous mix brings to mind the kind of ambitious, genre-bending studio work that music innovators—like Todd Rundgren on A Wizard, A True Star—have embraced over the years. Do Androids Dream Of Electric Beatles is a record that combines humor, creativity, and a little touch of madness, and it's sure to captivate anyone who appreciates the quirky, offbeat nature of music history’s most daring experimentalists.
Reflecting on the album, Link McLennan shared his thoughts, saying, "I have a strange feeling that the creation of my debut Bagful of Beez album was like feeding all the music of my past bands to an Asian palm civet—a strange, cat/raccoon-like creature. But instead of producing an expensive coffee, it somehow defecated a bunch of songs that are unique, exciting, and cohesive. I've never felt more confident about a collection of my songs being so fully realized. It's left me with an intense desire to continue creating and evolving within the expansive soundscape of Bagful of Beez. With the recent addition of Matthew Cotter (Even) on drums, everything feels perfectly satisfying."
In this new chapter of his career, McLennan’s Bagful of Beez proves that he remains a truly inventive artist, unafraid to blend the old with the new while pushing musical boundaries. Whether you're drawn to its infectious grooves, psychedelic flourishes, or soul-infused rock, this album offers something fresh and exciting for listeners to explore.
PS, listen out for some crazy and wild sound effects throughout the program.
