Aboriginal Deaths In Custody and Solitary Confinement In Victorian Prisons

This episode of Dointime contains audio images of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander epoples who have died, graphic discussion of deaths in custody and audio images about strip searches in prison. 

 

On today's show there were two extended interviews. We first hear from Brett Collins from Justice Action who spoke about Erin Patison's solitary confinement and ways that she can access peer support which has been well documented overseas.  Under the United Nations Nelson Mandela rules about solitary confinement were also discussed.The harms of solitary confinement were also discussed. For further information please go to the Justice action Website where all the reports and further analysis can be found.
