Charles Livingstone from the Department of Public Health and Preventative Medicine at Monash University researches the impacts of poker machines on community health and wellbeing. Most recently, he’s been examining the communicational and attention-grabbing features of one pokie machine in particular, the benignly named Dolphin Treasure, that turns out to be not so benign after all.

And Julie Shiels, visual artist and lecturer in Art at RMIT University, decided that her smartphone was taking up way too much of her attention, and decided to do something about it. She's talks about what and why.
