Shelly is a member of the Climate Change Choir that campaigned at the last federal election targeting marginal climate-sensitive seats.
She is also a thorn in the side of local council, agitating for accessible tram stops along Sydney Road, Brunswick, in Melbourne's inner north.
Shelly is a lifelong member of the Girl Guides, whose principles include freedom-of-speech and anti- discrimination. Women develop self leadership skills and learn the importance of strengthening values.
She is part of the Alternatives to Violence worldwide project that is active in 128 countries. It is a community movement that offers a personal development program, where individuals chose non-violent pathways through play-based activities.
