Bruce Hearn recently released 2 albums with his band The Machinists, the first a live celebration of American folk icon Woody Guthrie recorded at Melbourne's Atheneum theatre and the second titled The Word is the music the people are the song is a another 2 disc set with one album of Bruce Hearn's original songs and the other his interpretation of the folk songs that inspired him in his youth.

Long before the solo albums Bruce Hearn helped form Australia's legendary ska band Strange Tenants in 1981, releasing numerous albums, and singles over 3 decades.

In 2021 Strange Tenants are back to embark on a national 40th Anniversary tour with a show at the Curtin in Lygon St in Melbourneon Saturday the 11th December.
