There are many significant and important elders in the community whose stories are yet to be heard. 3CR's latest project,Yarra Elders Precious Memories, documents a portion of these important stories. Listen in over the coming weeks to Gilla McGuinness' show Precious Memories on Wednesdays 12-2pm as we broadcast these recordings, or go to Yarra Elders to listen online. It is vital to record, archive and broadcast the stories of the elders in order to inform future generations of their struggles, stories of survival, celebrations, achievements and concerns. The project has been facilitated and recorded by Aboriginal community broadcaster Gilla McGuinness, with Technical Assistance from Nicky Stott. The project was financially supported by a City of Yarra grant.
