3CR Film Fundraiser

Bring your friends for a movie night out at 3CR’s screening of the new political comedy ‘Pride’ on Thursday 6 November. Set in the Margaret Thatcher’s England in the summer of 84, ‘Pride’ is the story of how a London-based group of gay and lesbian activists join forces with the National Union of Mineworkers to raise money to support the strikers' families. 

This year we mark Invasion Day with 6 hours of special programming from 10 am – 4 pm on Friday 26th January.

We'll start the day will Elders Stories from our local community and some of our favourite Blak anthems.

Then at 11am, cross live to the Invasion Day rally that begins on the steps of Victorian Parliament. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the first Day of Mourning protest called by William Cooper.

The 26th of January marks the anniversary of the invasion of this continent, the start of a genocide that Aboriginal people continue to face, and the Aboriginal resistance that continues today. Invasion Day is a time to protest for land rights, sovereignty and self-determination for all Aboriginal people. This year we mark Invasion Day with 6 hours of special programming from 10am – 4 pm on Friday 26th January. At 10 am we'll bring you Yarra Elders Precious Memories - a portion of the many significant and important elders in the community whose stories are yet to be heard. We’ll cross live to the rally that begins on the steps of Victorian Parliament at 11am followed by an afternoon of deadly music, First Nations voices and updates from actions all across the land.

Alternative News

On 12 November 2017, Campaign for International Co-operation and Disarmament (CICD) will celebrate Bruce McPhie, Rev Richard Wootton and Heather Corry’s lives and achievements for peace and social justice. CICD will also celebrate 40 years of Alternative News broadcasting on 3CR. We invite you to help celebrate their achievements with us. Sunday 12 November, 1.30 to 5pm, Unitarian Peace Memorial Church, 110 Grey St, East Melbourne. Beyond the Bars CD Launch Thursday 2 November

Come along to the launch of the Beyond the Bars 2017 CD - a double CD of highlights from this year's NAIDOC Week prison broadcasts. Join us upstairs at MAYSAR, 184 Gertrude St, Fitzroy, on Thursday the 2 November from 6 to 8 pm.  The launch will feature a live panel discussion on Aboriginal incarceration, Q & A, and deadly music. Free CDs, snacks and drinks will be available. This is an alcohol free event, and has disability access.

Or snap one up for a friend or family member for Christmas, and ask your local library to get a copy! For $49.50 you can purchase the book online, or at the station during business hours. 

Joe Toscano - Anarchist World This Week

Joe Toscano first began broadcasting an anarchist analysis of local, national and international events on 3CR in August 1977. All are welcome to a special live broadcast of Anarchist World This Week on Wednesday 20th September, from 10:00 - 11:00 am at The Unitarian Church, 110 Grey St, East Melbourne. Doors open at 9:30am. Please be seated by 10:00am as the broadcast is live and will be simultaneously broadcast around Australia on the Community Radio Network. A communal lunch will be provided by Sampari – the West Papuan Independence Movement for $15.  You are encouraged to buy lunch for someone else who cannot afford it.

Over The Wall

Over The Wall is broadcast as part of 3CR's Monday Breakfast at 7.50am. Informing people of changes within government services which impact upon the social safety net, and how to better deal with bureaucracy and how to protect your rights. Over the Wall offers some simple tools to fight back and defend yourself against a system that penalises people already disadvantaged by poverty and significant health conditions.
Young Muslim Women's Training

We're looking for young muslim women who are between 15-25 years, have a passion for radio or podcasts and are interested in women's human rights issues. Send us a brief introduction about who you are and why you want to be part of the program.
