Special Broadcasts

3CR has a number of special broadcasts each year to celebrate important community activist events. These broadcasts are staged at live events around Melbourne or in the studios of 3CR in Fitzroy.

Survival Day: 26 January

ImageThis annual broadcast by 3CR's Indigenous broadcasters marks Australia's Invasion Day. Indigenous activists have broadcast at 3CR from the year 3CR began in1976.

Tune in on 26 January each year and hear the truth about 3CR's colonial past and the current campaigns to right past wrongs.

A diverse range of 3CR's environment programs bring interviews,
information and clean, green tips live from the festival at Federation
Square.

International Women's Day: 8 March

3CR's is proud of the feminist focus of many of our 3CR programs! Every 8 March join 3CR in a 24 hour broadcast celebrating and promoting the human rights achievements and campaigns for women globally.

3CR has a unique women only policy for training radio technicians.

 

 

 

May Day: 1 May

ImageWorker's issues around the world are presented byunion, feminist, queer and Indigenous 3CR presenters every 1 May at 3CR.

A long and proud history of promoting the rights of worker's everywhere is a cornerstone of 3CR's history and politics. 3CR aims to show and engage in the diversity of the world's working class.

 

 

 

Protest Coverage

Occupy Melbourne 2011

3CR has a long history
of presenting live coverage of union and social justice protests,
blockades and occupations including the Honeymoom Mine occupation, the
nurses dispute, the MUA picket, the S11 World Economic Forum protests and most recently - Occupy Melbourne. 

And each week 3CR dedicates hours of radio time to discussing the issues, concerns and ideas of social justice movements locally and globally. You can listen to coverage of the S11 Protests of 2000 and the Occupy Melbourne protests of 2011 online now.

Disability Day: 3 December

Disability DayEach year 3CR celebrates International Day of People with Disability Day on 3 December with a day of special programming.

The broadcast continues 3CR’s legacy of promoting the rights of people with disabilities, to empower people to create their own media content and to enable our own voices and views to be heard in a media landscape, which focuses almost exclusively on the non-disabled.

Human Rights Day: 10 December

Human Rights Day

Join 3CR on 10 December each year for World Human Rights Day - human rights activism and community celebration.

Hear directly from refugee and asylum seekers during our live outside broadcast from the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in West Melbourne.

In 2010 listen in to human rights and justice issues from ten asylum seekers and refugees as part of our Refugee Radio project.
