Accent of Women 09.09.2014

Vickie Roach is an Aboriginal woman, Aboriginal rights and prisoner rights activist who led the court case in the Hight Court in 2007, overturning an attempt to remove the voting rights from serving prisoners during the John Howard’s era. She shares her personal experience as a member of the stolen generation and discusses the justice system that criminalises poverty and survival. This is a speech presented at the 2014 Marxism conference in Melbourne.
