Everything is interconnected: We need to understand this to save the planet and ourselves

Friday, 17 December 2021 - 10:00am to 10:30am

Jennifer and Jacques return - again - to the concept of relationality, and how we are all part of a living web of inter-relating and intra-relating.

Our western thinking since the 1600s has set us in a bind that makes it hard to understand this, without some fundamental shift in our perception or ‘metanoia’.

Ignoring this perceptional shift has led and continues to lead to widespread destruction of the natural environment, and human isolation and alienation.

Nevertheless, understanding of the sacred web of connections between people, nature and all living things is central to Aboriginal and Indigenous world views. Meanwhile, alongside shifts in philosophy of science, branches of theoretical physics and biology, botany and zoology have also come to a more relational view of reality as have recent developments in social science and in approaches to the human services professions.
