Resilience: A personal or relational quality? - or society's new way of shifting responsibility to the victims of its policies?

Friday, 23 August 2019 - 10:00am to 10:30am

Are programs to improve resilience in children the best way to go? Perhaps we need to look at what is reducing resilience in the first place. This program refers back to the first program on relationality, making the argument that our individual and collective wellbeing relies on the health of the living network of relationships that we live and breathe within. Many of our mental health problems can be traced to the fracturing of this living network, in our hyper-individualised society. "Rather than compliment people about their resilience, society should make them less vulnerable!"
