Miguel Rios is a gifted story-telling guitarist who's songs try to make sense of his childhood ghosts.
He was born in an alternative community living a free and lawless childhood in the Far North Queensland hinterland. The memories remained and followed him to the tin studio just outside Melbourne where he recorded this gem of an album. Slaughterhouse Road is an album 20 years in the making, from it's gestation to it's birth an intense 10 day recording process.
Recorded with a 1969 Ampex half inch 4 track machine and a Akai M8 tape recorder during a full moon with producer / engineer Greg O'Shea.
Miguel's songs are influenced by fingerstyle and rhythm guitar greats John Fahey, Lightin' Hopkins, Skip James,Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, and Leo Kottke, and the writing styles of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Johnny Cash.
Miguel Rios introduces the songs on Slaughterhouse Road on And This One's Introduced By... on Planet X on 3CR.
