The John Lawrence Hour was formed in 2008 by John Lawrence who's been a fixture in the Underground music scene since the early 1980's. Starting with Permanent Press who played St. Kilda's iconic Crystal Ballroom and The Prince Of Wales Hotel circa '81, the band were an intense,  post-punk outfit with chilling lyrics, and an experimental sound.

Underground cult band Black Sun was John's next  endeavour  playing smaller inner city gigs around Melbourne and recording  with Tony Cohen and Chris Thompson.

After that John formed Go Public, a band that had a powerful pop sensibility, crashing guitars and a rhythm section that drove their sound. They recorded an album, toured Sydney then returned to Melbourne to play the Jackson Street Festival.

Over the years John Lawrance has played with some of Australia's most talented musicians as well as International artists from Dead Can Dance, Einsturzende Neubauten, The Models to Hunters and Collectors.

He's also appeared in a number of other artists video clips such as Elvis Costello, Men at work and the Reels.

John Lawrence from the John Lawrence Hour is here to tell us about his new album Beyond the rope on And This One's Introduced By... with Paul Elliott on Planet X.
