The Devil Won't Take Charity is the catchy title for the latest album by Kim Volkman & The Whiskey Priests and also the name of Kim's autobiography. He's gone on to write a second volume of personal short stories called For Those That Dance With The Skeleton.
On the back sleeve of the first book, the accolades speak about his life: he's stood on stage with AC/DC and Rose Tattoo, discussed the occult with Jimmy Page, Ian Moss would like to lift a few of his licks, Don Walker put him in the same category as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lobby Loyde called him a genius.
Unless you live in St Kilda, chances are you probably haven't heard of him.
Kim Volkman has been playing in bands for 40 years, all of them real, raw, blues punk notably in X, with Ian Rilen in the Love Addicts and his band Kim Volkman & The Whiskey Priests.
