Kathryn Wilkes from Say No Seven October 2020 Cashless Welfare Card Update part one

Thursday, 15 October 2020 - 1:13pm
Stop the Federal Government's new legislation to expand the cashless welfare card

Kathryn Wilkes returns to discuss new legislation going before Federal Parliamnent in October 2020 to vastly expand the cashless welfare card and also designed to make it possible for the cashless welfare card to become permanent (no longer a trial). The Fed Government is pushing through this bill with support of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation and aims to have it passed by Nov 2020.

The cashless welfare card not only removes human rights for autonomy, it also has created enormous stigma and suffering in rural communities.

The government is eroding the social safety net by making welfare recipients suffer punitive measures, which leave the unemployed, disability pensioners, aged pensioners, sole parents at the mercy of private corporations like Indue that manage the cashless welfare card.

The government is operating by stealth and using remote rural locations to expand the cashless welfare card, hoping that people in large cities don’t realise what is going on until it’s too late!
