About Armenian News

In Armenian.

The Armenian News program is proud of its long association with 3CR, stretching back to the 1970’s, when it played a very important part in keeping newly arrived Armenian migrants educated and well informed, as well as providing a means for the community to prosper socially and retain its rich Armenian traditions and culture.

This has largely continued over the decades, with the program maintaining a strong and loyal listenership among the Melbourne Armenian community.

The program is broadcast in English once a month and in Armenian the other weeks and is put to air by volunteers from the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), the world’s largest non-profit organization devoted to upholding the Armenian heritage through educational, cultural and humanitarian programs. The Melbourne Chapter of the AGBU was incorporated in 1989.

The program comprises of Armenian music, news, entertainment, interviews and other items of general interest.
