Women On The Line 20.10.2014

This week we’re talking about outworkers, women who work for Melbourne’s textile industry out of their own homes. Many are non-English speaking migrants working for well below the award wage with no benefits. That is until they’re introduced to the Textile Clothing and Footwear Union through nonprofit organisation Ethical Clothing Australia. We talk to Hong Noowin (name changed) whose worked as an outworker for 16 years, Sabrina Crawley from ECA and Beth McPherson from the TCFU.
