3CR response to Covid-19

3CR has decided to close its doors to volunteers and guests from Monday 23 March as we try to do our part to minimise the spread of the coronavirus throughout the community. At the front of our minds, is protecting the most marginalised and vulnerable. But we are still here. And we’ll continue broadcasting, 24 hours a day, with radical, alternative content throughout this period – but things will sound a bit different. Some programmers will present their shows on the phone, and we’ll be finding creative ways to bring you our regular programming. So stay tuned, stay safe, and be kind to each other.

Join 3CR on Sunday 8 March as we dish up another feast of radical ideas to end gender inequality. Centring the voices of First Nations, refugee, migrant women and gender diverse people. Challenging liberal and corporate feminisms in discussions on sovereignty, workers rights, abelism, nuclear disarmament, environmental justice, animal rights, music and performance. 11pm Saturday 7 March to midnight Sunday 8 March. For more details go to International Women's Day 2020.

The start of 2020 heralded catastrophic conditions for communities and the natural environment right across Australia. It is devastating to see the direct impact of years of government inaction on climate change together with the extreme corporate greed. Now is the time to stand up and fight against ecological genocide. It is clear that only a mass mobilisation of people and communities will create the change necessary. The essence of any movement for social change is communication and information. Community radio provides a vital space for us to communicate and organise together free from vested corporate interests and the profit motive. Be part of the movement for change - become a member of Melbourne’s precious independent community media.

But there's no need to turn off! We've collated a great summer listening line-up, so we hope you can kick back and listen up.

3CR Radiothon is coming - starts 3 June

Save the date! 3CR's annual fundraiser is on the horizon. It's a time of tension and celebration as our programmers fundraise their hearts out to keep the station going for another year. Partly we fear this time of year, and partly we love it! We love the rallying of community, and generosity of our listeners, and the commitment everyone shows to strong, independent airwaves. Bring it on! Power Radical Radio, 3-16 June.
