Online Misogynistic Trolling plus Intersectional Animal Liberation

Friday, 10 July 2015 - 5:30pm to 6:30pm

Up first on the show this week is Jess from the Institute of Critical Animal Studies Oceania (http://www.criticalanimalstudies.org/icas-oceania/). We interview Jess about the history and aims of ICAS, the conference they are having, and on incorporating an intersectional political analysis into animal liberation movements.

Next, we have a lengthy interview with Van Badham, a writer, playwright and activist who also writes a column for the Guardian. This interview is about the online backlash she received after criticising the recent pension deal between the Greens and the Liberal Party. This interview covers some background, the nature of the abuse, and the broader political dimensions that help to perpetuate this form of misogyny, plus ways to support people when they experience this kind of backlash.
