Socialist Alliance members and movement activists will discuss plans and initiatives for campaigns against global warming and to reverse all of Howard’s anti-union laws under the Rudd government.

The conference will also discuss resolutions on issues such as campaigns for indigenous rights, the anti-terror laws and troop withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan.

11am-1pm   Global warming, water, the bay: environment campaigns for 2008

Guest speakers will discuss how to the campaign to stop climate change before it’s too late as well as local environment campaigns. Speakers: Shaun Murray, Friends of the Earth Climate Justice Campaign; Neil Blake, coordinator of Port Phillip Eco Centre; Hans Baer, lecturer & author of “Feeling the heat of global warming: Causes or and impacts on human health & society”; Ben Courtice, co-convenor, Socialist Alliance environment campaign group.1-1.30pm    Lunch1.30-3.30pm  Fighting for workers’ rights under the Rudd governmentGuest speakers will discuss the possibilities of a campaign to abolish all of the anti-union laws. Speakers: Steve Dargavel; Australian Manufacturing Workers Union state secretary; Michele O’Neil Textile, Clothing and Footwear Union state secretary; Ralph Edwards, Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union state president; Tim Gooden, Geelong Trades Hall secretary.3.30-3.45pm   Afternoon tea
