Beyond the Bars 4 is a compilation of highlights from 3CR’s 2007 National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee Week live broadcasts.

These live broadcasts took place with Indigenous women and men incarcerated within three Victorian prisons:

• Port Phillip Prison
• Fulham Prison
• and the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, Deer Park

The CD includes interviews, songs, poems, conversations and messages from Indigenous inmates and was funded by the Community Broadcasting Foundation, the Department of Justice and the City of Melbourne.

Beyond The Bars is an annual 3CR project.

3CR is the only radio station in Australia to broadcast live from Australian prisons. Since the project commenced in 2002 3CR has won numerous awards for the project including the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Radio Award in 2004.
