The MSF aims to bring progressive thinkers together so that they can
discuss, share and act on ideas for sustainable social and ecological
justice.
Our goal is to help create a socially just and ecologically sustainable world by promoting collaboration between community groups, activists, and the wider community.
The event is an ideal opportunity
for you to connect, inter link and develop these collaborations with
organisations and individuals from Victoria and beyond.
The theme for this year is ‘In the Hot House - Positive Responses to
Climate Change’. Under this umbrella, other vital contemporary themes
(like human rights, sustainability, social and environmental justice)
will also be discussed. In addition to discussion – based events and
workshops, the MSF also features stalls, live music and artistic
performances, films screenings, art displays, excellent food, great
coffee and the chance to have the odd glass of wine should you be so
inclined.
The 2009 MSF will open on Friday 17th with a public forum at Victoria
University on Flinders St. This ‘panel forum’ will include speakers
such as Tanya Ha (green lifestyle media personality), David Spratt
(co-author of ‘Climate Code Red’) and Kirsten Larsen (the Victorian Eco
Innovation Lab).
The launch will be followed by a two-day weekend festival at Ceres
Environmental Park.
