The Aireys Inlet Open Mic Music Festival - a free music event celebrating the Surf Coast’s love of music and the huge talent in the area, as well as highlighting the ability of music to bring communities together.

Enjoy a range of music from emerging and established musicians at various venues around the beautiful coastal town of Aireys Inlet.

For family fun there’ll be daytime performances in marquees around the Skate Park and Bark Hut. Those looking for some refreshment to accompany the tunes can head to local venues Truffles and a la grecque. And at night the action moves to the Inlet Hotel, with a laid back acoustic stage and the hugely successful amped up marquee stage.

The Mordialloc by the Bay Fine Food, Wine and Music Festival, returns to Peter Scullin Reserve, Beach Road, Mordialloc for an action-packed weekend on Saturday 13th March (11am to 10.30pm) and Sunday 14th March (11am to 6pm).

The Collingwood Toy Library is holding its 7th annual Pre-Loved Toy & Clothing Fair in the Darling Gardens, Clifton Hill on Sunday March 14th between 9am and 1pm. The fair is a highlight of the local calendar with hundreds of families coming along in search of a bargain at one of the many stalls. In addition to shopping for second hand treasure there are plenty of attractions to keep everyone entertained: face painting, a jumping castle and petting zoo, emergency vehicles for the kids to climb on, singing and dancing, great coffee and food and much, much more. Entry is free.

Speakers include Julie Kun (Australian Services Union lead organizer) on pay equity, Elife Mat (Anatolian Cultural Centre) on migrant's women's experience of domestic violence and Kimberly Yu (Socialist Alliance) on women's reproductive rights.

At the Jewish Museum of Australia women are revisiting the Bible.

Woman of Valour (Sue Saxon, Artist) 2009Juxtaposing old artworks (including Chagall, Rembrandt) with new works by a range of female artists (including Julie Dowling, Sue Saxon and Anne Zahalka), curator Rebecca Forgasz examines representations of women in the Bible and questions traditional notions of femininity in what promises to be a challenging exhibition.

Swedish audio-visual artist Carl Michael von Hausswolff arrives in Australia for the first time to embark upon new creative work and presentation as guest of RMIT University’s School of Media and Communication and the City of Melbourne. I am hoping you may be interested to interview him, and to promote the following events on your program .

  

He will give a public lecture on his practice as a sound artist at RMIT’s Kaleide Theatre; an informal performance/installation and reception in Avoca, in conjunction with his residency at The Avoca Project; and will create a visual art installation for the Mockridge Fountain at Melbourne City Square.

 

This installation will continue his “Red” series for large architectural spaces, with previous works from the series shown in Santa Fe, Liverpool, Luxembourg, Kaliningrad, Changmai, Zagreb and Chicago.
