Swedish audio-visual artist Carl Michael von Hausswolff arrives in Australia for the first time to embark upon new creative work and presentation as guest of RMIT University’s School of Media and Communication and the City of Melbourne.
He will give a public lecture on his practice as a sound artist at RMIT’s Kaleide Theatre; an informal performance/installation and reception in Avoca, in conjunction with his residency at The Avoca Project; and will create a visual art installation for the Mockridge Fountain at Melbourne City Square.
This installation will continue his “Red” series for large architectural spaces, with previous works from the series shown in Santa Fe, Liverpool, Luxembourg, Kaliningrad, Changmai, Zagreb and Chicago.

Public Interest Law Clearing House (PILCH) Event The Fair Work Act 2009 commenced operation on 1 July 2009, with additional provisions, including those relating to Modern Awards and the National Employment Standards ('NES'), commencing on 1 January 2010. Employers (including not-for-profit employers) must now ensure that existing contracts, policies and procedures are updated to reflect the obligations under the NES and any applicable Modern Awards. In addition to the creation of Modern Awards and the NES, the Fair Work Act also introduced changes to the unfair dismissal regime. Many more employers must now comply with unfair dismissal obligations before terminating a person's employment. The Collingwood Toy Library is holding its 7th annual Pre-Loved Toy & Clothing Fair in the Darling Gardens, Clifton Hill on Sunday March 14th between 9am and 1pm.
The fair is a highlight of the local calendar with hundreds of families coming along in search of a bargain at one of the many stalls. In addition to shopping for second hand treasure there are plenty of attractions to keep everyone entertained: face painting, a jumping castle and petting zoo, emergency vehicles for the kids to climb on, singing and dancing, great coffee and food and much, much more. The successful fight to decriminalise abortionin Victoria put abortion rights back onto the national stage. This year, through February and March, anorchestrated targeting by religious zealots of clinics in Melbourne, Sydney andBrisbane further signals a resurgence of coordinated assaults on women'srights. The abortion wars have reignited. But women are not simply on the frontline of government and corporate attacks, they are also on the frontline of resistance - leading major struggles against war, occupations, poverty and discrimination. This seminar will bring together feminist activists to discuss these experiences of resistance and consider ways of reinvigorating the struggle for women's liberation. The keynote speakers will introduce the discussion by drawing on their specific experiences with various resistance struggles including Palestine, Latin America and Australia. She developed a profound critique of the tradeunion bureaucracy and had a refreshing confidence in workers to lead their owngrassroots struggles. She made many theoretical contributions but is bestremembered for her polemic, Reform or Revolution, in which she demolished the ideas of the “revisionist” EduardBernstein who believed that socialism could be achieved by gradual reform.
