The City of Yarra was approached by community members from Gippsland to help organise an arts fundraiser to raise money for bushfire relief and it has been our privilege to work with an absolutely committed group of individuals to put together an auction at the Fitzroy Town Hall for the 21 May.

I can tell you wonderful stories about how many arms Dawn Stubbs has twisted to get everyone on board, including securing the services of the auction house Leonard Joel; the local printer James Yeats Printing who is printing the catalogue for free; Annette Frew who has convinced Gippsland food and wine producers to donate their goods (Capra Goats Cheese, Jindi Cheese, Maffra Cheese and Limbicks Winery); to the Cultural Catering cooks in Yarra’s public housing estates have committed to cooking gourmet foods that will be offered as part of entry to the auction; of the many kilometres Chris Stubbs has driven to collect all the donated artworks across Gippsland; about Carmel Nunan our freelance publicist who is donating her time; Easytix for the fabulous ticketing service; and to the ever growing list of artists who have donated their works for the auction.
