Thirty-four INGO’s have joined with Maya Achi communities to call on the World Bank & Guatemalan government to make reparations for events that occurred in 1982 when the Guatemalan army forcibly displaced Maya Achi communities to make way for the construction of the World Bank funded, large-scale Chixoy Hydro-Electric Dam project. 444 Maya Achi people were massacred at the time including 107 children and 70 women.
