Nine mega coal projects proposed in the Galilee Basin in Queensland would see a doubling of Australia’s coal exports and burn through a whopping 6% of the world’s remaining carbon budget (if we are to have any chance of staying below 2 degrees of warming). We speak with Josh Creaser from 350.org Australia​ about why these projects must be stopped. Bushfires are one of the most immediate and dramatic examples of the effects of climate change in Australia, and they’re only going to get worse. Professor Lesley Hughes from The Climate Council​ explains the links between climate change and increased propensity and severity of bushfires.
