Beyond the Bars 2010During NAIDOC Week from 5 - 9 July 2010 3CR celebrated with special programming including Beyond the Bars - live radio shows from five Victorian prisons. 

On Monday 5 July 11 - 2pm we heard from the Indigenous women at Dame Phyllis Frost Centre; onTuesday 6 July 11 - 2pm we broadcast live from Barwon Prison; on Wednesday 7 July 12 - 2pm a pre-record from Fulham PrisonThursday 8 July 12 - 4pm was live with the men at Port Phillip Prison and onFriday 9 July 11 - 2pm for the first time live from Marngoneet

Beyond the Bars was financially supported by the Community Broadcasting Foundation, the City of Melbourne, the Victorian Department of Justice and the Neighbourhood Justice Centre in 2010. 

Beyond the Bars 7 - 20103CR's Beyond the Bars 7 CD features over one hundred Indigenous men and women in five Victorian prisons. The CD features highlights from the stories, interviews, poems and songsof our live prison shows during NAIDOC Week in July 2010.

Beyond the Bars

Beyond the Bars is a unique series of live prison radio broadcasts that give voice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inmates in Victorian prisons. The broadcasts are presented by 3CR's First Nations broadcasters during NAIDOC* Week (July). Beyond the Bars began in 2002 and each year it features songs, stories, opinions and poems from the men and women inside, while also connecting them with culture and community. *National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee
